Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Pakistan Railways have agreed to strengthen cooperation in railway development, officials confirmed on Monday.
A key meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi discussed major railway projects in the province. Officials revealed that a new 192-kilometre railway track will be constructed between Kohat and Kharlachi. The project is expected to cost $642 million and is planned to be completed within two years.
Chief Minister Afridi said the Kohat-Kharlachi train service will improve travel facilities for passengers and stimulate commercial activity along the route, calling it a “timely necessity” for the region.
The meeting also explored running modern trains on existing railway tracks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aiming to upgrade transport services and enhance connectivity throughout the province.
