Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the discovery of a major oil and gas reserve in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling it the largest hydrocarbon find of the year.
According to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company confirmed that the new reserves were discovered during exploration activities in the Kohat region.
OGDCL said the discovery is considered the biggest oil and gas reserve found so far this year, highlighting its potential importance for Pakistan’s energy sector.
The company added that further evaluation and testing will help determine the full production capacity of the newly discovered reserves. Officials believe the discovery could contribute to strengthening the country’s domestic energy resources.
Industry experts say new hydrocarbon discoveries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can play a key role in reducing Pakistan’s dependence on imported energy in the future.
