KOHAT: Pakistan’s energy sector received a major boost as the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced a new oil and gas discovery in the Nashpa Block of Kohat district.
According to an OGDCL spokesperson, the newly drilled Bragzai X-1 well is expected to produce 3,100 barrels of crude oil per day, along with 8.15 million cubic feet of gas daily.
The company said the oil and gas discovery in Kohat accounts for nearly 14.5 percent of Pakistan’s total crude oil production, making it a major breakthrough for the national energy sector.
OGDCL further said that the discovery reflects its continued efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s energy security and reduce reliance on imported fuel. The new reserves are expected to contribute positively toward meeting the country’s growing energy demand.
The spokesperson added that OGDCL remains committed to exploring indigenous resources and achieving key milestones to support sustainable energy development across the country.
