PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet Friday decided to give protection to whistleblowers in the government’s department who report corruption.
The provincial cabinet meeting was chaired by chief Minister Pervez Khattak, which also reviewed the floods situation in the province.
The meeting decided that protection would be provided to whistleblowers who report corruption in their departments. He said that the protection to whistleblowers would help eliminate corruption the government departments.
Addressing press conference after the meeting, provincial minister for information Mushtaq Ghani said that the government has decided to take action against corruption officials, adding that the Ehtesab Commission Act would be amended for improvement in the act.
The meeting also reviewed the floods situation in the province especially Chitral and Peshawar. The cabinet decided that all resources would be utilized for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the floods affected areas.
The meeting also decided that action against encroachment at Badhni Nullah would continue to clear to nullah side of the illegal construction.
The minister said that the government also approved millions of rupees for providing better health facilities in the government hospitals.
