PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa apprehended a female in Kohat for her alleged involvement in extortion cases.
As per the CTD, the suspect, identified as Maryam Bibi, was reportedly a key player in her father’s extortion network. Authorities claimed that she used an Afghan cellular network number to make calls.
The suspect is accused of making extortion calls to two businessmen in Peshawar and even left an extortion letter in one instance.
The CTD revealed ongoing raids in Mohmand and Peshawar to capture the suspect’s father and dismantle the extortion network.
Earlier this month, the CTD disclosed that 51 women had come under suspicion for various crimes, including terrorism, kidnapping, target killing, extortion, and terror financing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past nine years. The CTD’s list outlines the alleged involvement of these women in criminal activities since 2014.
