KP EC announces schedule for local government by-elections


PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Election Commission has announced 8th by-elections schedule for the local government elections against 334 vacant seats to be held on December 23 in the province.The bye elections are being held in all 24 district of the province.
According to details elections will be held on 65 vacant District Councilors seats, 38 Tehsil Councilors and 231 Village hood Councilors seats. The nomination papers will be received till November 22. The notice of filing of nomination papers will be issued on Nov 23. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out between 24 Nov to 27 Nov.
The appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed from 28 Nov to 29 Nov and decision against these appeals will be taken on November 30 .The contesting candidates can withdraw their names by December 3 while final list of candidates will be displayed on December 4 and election symbols will be allocated to them.
The polling will take place on December 23 and Returning Officers will announced election results on December 24.The election commission has also issued code of conduct under which ban has been imposed on transfer and posting of the government officials while the elected representatives including Prime Minister, federal and provincial ministers, Nazims will not be allowed to visit these councils or announce developmental schemes till holding of elections.Moreover, Deputy Commissioners of these districts can not perform protocol duties with Prime Minister and other government dignitaries till elections.– APP
