KP Education Department Takes Action on Poor Matric Exam Results

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Education is taking action against teachers due to poor student performance in recent matriculation exams.

In a report from the department, it’s revealed that 80% of students in 736 government schools in the province failed their matric exams.

Surprisingly, 82 government schools had a 100% failure rate, with no students passing. Other schools reported high failure rates, with 24 schools at 98% and 34 schools at 97%, raising concerns about the quality of education.

Even more concerning, 21 schools reported a 96% failure rate, and 38 schools reported a 95% failure rate. Most of the poorly performing schools are in tribal areas, adding complexity to the issue.

The KP education department is taking disciplinary actions against the responsible teachers, including show-cause notices and potential reductions in teaching allowances. Recommendations are being prepared to address the problem.
