PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to take action against illegal housing societies in the province.
Provincial Finance Advisor Muzamil Islam has called for a high-level meeting to discuss the closure of or heavy fines on housing societies operating without proper authorization.
Islam has identified illegal housing societies as a significant threat to agricultural lands in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has scheduled an important meeting for next week to address this issue, with the aim of formulating a comprehensive policy for managing illegal housing societies.
This policy will include steps to ensure compliance with NOC and other legal requirements. The unchecked growth of illegal housing societies is also contributing to food security and environmental concerns.
In 2020, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) had identified 150 “illegal” schemes in Peshawar city and had decided to take action against these societies.
