KP Govt to Provide Bulletproof Vehicles to Field Officers Amid Rising Security Threats

KP Govt to Provide Bulletproof Vehicles to Field Officers

Peshawar: In view of worsening law and order conditions in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government has decided to provide bulletproof vehicles to field officers to ensure their safety while performing official duties.

According to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Administration Department, the decision was taken after repeated security threats and attacks targeting field officers across the province.

In the first phase, bulletproof vehicles will be provided to 150 Assistant Commissioners and Additional Assistant Commissioners. The department clarified that instead of purchasing new vehicles, the existing official vehicles currently in use by officers will be converted into bulletproof units.

Officials said that the cost of converting a single vehicle into a bulletproof one is estimated between Rs7 million and Rs8 million.

The decision comes against the backdrop of recent attacks on field officers. During 2025, two Assistant Commissioners were targeted while on duty. On July 2, 2025, Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail was attacked in Bajaur, while another attack targeted Assistant Commissioner Miran Shah Shah Wali Shah on December 2, 2025.

The Administration Department said that continuous security incidents have made it extremely difficult for field staff to perform their responsibilities, making it necessary to take urgent steps for their protection.

The move aims to ensure the safety, confidence, and effective functioning of officers in sensitive and high-risk areas of the province.
