PESHAFWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Works and Communications, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, has resigned, citing corruption within the provincial government.
Khan, a member of PTI, submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, expressing his frustration with the current administration. “I can no longer tolerate the corruption and am compelled to step down,” he stated in his resignation letter.
Shakeel Ahmed announced that he would provide further details about his resignation during the upcoming KP Assembly session. He had previously accused the chief minister of interfering in his ministry, claiming that corruption and mismanagement were preventing him from carrying out his duties effectively.
In response, the KP government noted that a committee, formed by PTI founder Imran Khan, had already recommended Shakeel Ahmed’s dismissal as provincial minister. A summary of his removal had been forwarded to the KP governor. This committee was established after Shakeel Ahmed, during a meeting with Imran Khan in jail, raised concerns about embezzlement in various departments across the province.
