PESHAWAR: A possible tragedy was averted in Lakki Marwat on Thursday. A terror attempt on Gambila police station failed after alert officers noticed suspicious movement near the station. They opened fire immediately, forcing the attackers to flee.
According to the police, no one from the force was hurt. The attackers escaped without causing any damage.
Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed praised the Gambila police team. He said their sharp observation, readiness, and fearless action prevented a serious attack. He called their response brave and professional.
An investigation has begun. Police are scanning the surrounding area to track down those involved. They are also searching for any hideouts linked to the failed attempt.
This attempted strike came just hours after another disturbing incident. In Balochistan, authorities discovered the bullet-ridden bodies of nine passengers. These men had been abducted from two buses on Thursday evening.
The victims were found in a mountainous area. They had been kidnapped by insurgents in one of several attacks targeting buses.
Shahid Rind, spokesperson for the provincial government, confirmed the details. He revealed that security forces had already stopped three insurgent strikes earlier that day.
Rind accused India of supporting the terrorists. He said these assaults were part of an ongoing wave of cross-border terrorism. He blamed hostile foreign agencies for sponsoring these killers.
He claimed that foreign-backed militancy has increased since Pakistan’s military victory over India. The pattern of violence shows signs of transnational terrorism with clear Indian ties.
On Friday morning, Pakistan’s army leadership also reacted. In a high-level meeting, top commanders promised strong and complete action. They vowed to eliminate all Indian-sponsored attacks operating from within.
The military called for unity to defeat external terror links threatening national peace.
