Kurram Landmine Explosions Injure Nine, Spark Local Fear

A fresh wave of militancy has struck Kurram district, where three separate Kurram landmine explosions were reported in a single day, triggering widespread alarm among local residents. The blasts left nine people with serious injuries, and three of the victims have been left permanently disabled as a result.

Fresh Wave of Violence in Dander Desert

The security situation in Kurram has taken a worrying turn as militancy and unrest escalate across the district. In the remote Dander desert area, three landmine blasts occurred in close succession, costing three labourers their legs and leaving them with lifelong disabilities.

Police Account of the Incidents

According to police, all three explosions took place on the same day in the outlying Dander desert region. The first blast occurred in the morning and severely injured a labourer identified as Hamid Hussain, resulting in the loss of both his feet. By evening, two more individuals had fallen victim to buried explosive material in the same area.

Mortar Shell Incidents Add to Local Unease

Beyond the landmine blasts, Kurram district has also seen several mortar shell incidents this week, compounding the sense of insecurity among residents. Over the past three days alone, these combined incidents, landmines and mortar fire together, have left a total of nine people injured.

The repeated explosions have left local communities on edge, prompting residents to call on the authorities to launch a thorough search operation. They are urging officials to locate and clear the landmines from the area to prevent further casualties and restore a sense of safety to the region.
