Lahore Court Extends PTI Leader Falak Javed’s Physical Remand in Anti-State Tweet Case

A Lahore court has extended the physical remand of PTI leader Falak Javed in a case involving an anti-state tweet and the alleged uploading of an inappropriate image of a provincial minister. The case, registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), continues to gain attention as authorities pursue further investigation.

PTI leader Falak Javed was produced before the Lahore District Court after completing a four-day physical remand. Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo presided over the hearing. During the proceedings, NCCIA officials requested an extension of the physical remand, while the defense strongly opposed the plea.

Advocate Rana Abdul Maroof, representing Falak Javed, argued that the FIR was baseless and fabricated, pointing out that although six individuals were mentioned in the report connected to the shared link, his client was not one of them. “I have been arrested only because I am the brother of Sanam Javed,” he said, accusing the NCCIA of implicating him in a false case.

The lawyer further stated that investigators had earlier sought remand to recover a mobile phone but had made no progress. “I have been in jail custody since the beginning and was never taken out for recovery. Where is this alleged mobile coming from?” he questioned.

Advocate Maroof maintained that nine days of physical remand had already been completed without any significant development, urging the court to reject the NCCIA’s request and instead place the accused on judicial remand.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the Lahore court reserved its decision and later extended Falak Javed’s physical remand for another four days, allowing investigators additional time to continue the probe into the anti-state tweet case.
