Law and Order in KP Worsens as Terrorism Surges Amid Govt Negligence

The deteriorating Law and Order in KP has once again come under the spotlight as a fresh report reveals a sharp increase in terrorism incidents across the province. According to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), as many as 766 incidents have occurred in the last eight months. These violent acts led to the deaths of 293 militants and the arrest of 878 suspects.

Despite these operations, the situation remains alarming. The report confirms that more than 3,000 terrorists are still roaming free. Bannu has emerged as the most affected district, making it the epicenter of militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The CTD shared detailed figures from across the province. In Bannu alone, 417 incidents were recorded, resulting in 92 arrests and 28 terrorists killed. North Waziristan witnessed 124 attacks where 578 terrorists were identified. Lakki Marwat reported 73 incidents, leading to 26 deaths, 52 arrests, and 27 militants killed.

In Dera Ismail Khan, 66 violent acts took place. These left 102 people dead and 73 terrorists arrested. Peshawar, the provincial capital, reported 32 incidents that led to 184 arrests and nine fatalities. South Waziristan experienced 63 attacks, with 20 terrorists killed and one captured alive. Smaller yet deadly strikes were also reported in Orakzai, Dir, Karak, and Kurram.

While the Law and Order in KP is worsening, the provincial government has shown little seriousness in addressing the crisis. Instead of cooperating with national institutions, the KP government has repeatedly gone against state policies. At times, it has opposed anti-terror operations. On other occasions, it has extended support to illegal Afghan residents in the province.

The report highlights a grim reality. Militants are regaining space, while the government continues its political posturing. Experts warn that the fragile Law and Order in KP cannot improve without strict action, coordinated efforts, and political will. Without these measures, the people of the province will continue to suffer under the shadow of terrorism.

The Law and Order in KP is not just a security issue but a test of governance. The rising violence shows that delay and denial will only make the crisis worse.
