Lebanese Army Chief Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir to Discuss Regional Security and Defence Cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Lebanese Army Chief General Rodolphe Haykal met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday to discuss regional security developments and ways to strengthen defence cooperation between Pakistan and Lebanon.

General Haykal received a guard of honour from a tri-services contingent upon his arrival at GHQ, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the meeting, both military leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and opportunities to expand bilateral military relations.

The talks focused on increasing professional engagement, training cooperation and institutional linkages between the armed forces of the two countries.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its longstanding and friendly relations with Lebanon. He also highlighted the Pakistan Army’s interest in further enhancing defence collaboration with the Lebanese Armed Forces.

General Haykal praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He also acknowledged their role in promoting regional peace, stability and international peacekeeping efforts.

The ISPR said the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Lebanon to strengthening military-to-military cooperation and expanding defence ties.
