KARACHI: Veteran Pakistani actor Talat Hussain passed away in Karachi after a prolonged illness, confirmed by Karachi Arts Council President Ahmed Shah on Sunday.
Hussain, known for his extensive career in radio, television, and cinema, had been undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
Born in 1940 in New Dehli, Talat Hussain was a prominent figure in Pakistani entertainment. He started his acting career in 167 with Pakistan state-run television PTV. He was a household name in the entertainment industry.
He was married to Professor Rakhshanda Hussain and was a father of three children — two daughters and one son. Hussain’s educational background included studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Throughout his illustrious career, Talat Hussain received numerous accolades. He was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2021 and the Pride of Performance Award in 1982 by the Government of Pakistan. His international recognition included the Amanda Award for Best Supporting Actor in the Norwegian film “Import Eksport” in 2006. Additionally, he received the Nigar Award in 1986 for Best Supporting Actor in the film “Miss Bangkok.”
