Levies, Khasadar force to get legal cover; draft bills within 10 days

PESHAWAR: The provincial government has decided to give legal cover to Levies and Khasadar force in tribal districts to make them part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.
Provincial information minister Shaukat Yousafzai said in a statement that the decision was taken during a meeting of the apex committee, which was chaired by governor Shah Farman and attended by corps commander, IG police and others.
The provincial minister said that the Levies and Khasadar force would be responsible to the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that meeting approved drafting of the KP Levies Act and Khasadar Act. He said that the drafts of the both laws would be finalized within ten days. He said that Levies and Khasadar force would act like police in tribal districts. He said that the meeting also reviewed the ongoing development projects in the tribal districts.
