LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday issued notices to the federal government, electoral body and other parties to submit its replies on a petition field against Election Commission Act 2024 till Sept 9.
A single member comprised of Justice Raza Muhammad Qureshi heard the petition filed by Advocate Muneer Ahmed.
During the proceedings , the Assistant Attorney General informed the court that Additional Attorney General could not appear due to other commitments and requested to adjourned the hearing.
In response, Petitioner’s counsel Advocate Azhar Siddique ,argued that Attorney General had already been served a notice under section 27A,making the presence of Additional Attorney General unnecessary. He also noted that supreme court had directed an expedited decision on the matter.
Subsequently court issued notice to the Federal Government and other parties and adojured the hearing until September 9.
