LAHORE: Four judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC) have received threatening letters following a similar incident at the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The Registrar’s office confirmed that the letters were addressed to Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, and Justice Aliya Neelam.
In response, the Counter Terrorism Department and police have been deployed to the LHC, with security measures heightened.
Forensic teams are currently evaluating the suspicious letters, with footage from CCTV cameras at the LHC being reviewed. The recipients of the letters are members of the LHC’s three-judge administrative committee.
Earlier, Chief Justice Aamir Farooq of the IHC and eight other judges had received similar suspicious letters. One of the letters contained a powdery substance with the word “anthrax” mentioned.
The letters were reportedly sent by a woman named Resham, who did not provide an address.
