BAHWALPUR: A lioness named Buddy passed away after a lengthy battle with illness in Bahwalpur Zoo on Saturday.
Despite being unwell for a considerable period, the zoo is still awaiting a comprehensive report on the circumstances surrounding her demise.
Buddy, the lioness, had been grappling with diabetes and had been under the weather for quite some time. According to sources at the zoo, she had only given birth once in her lifetime, delivering three cubs.
Usman Bukhari, the curator of the lion enclosure, mentioned that the lioness had reached the end of her expected lifespan. He further stated that a post-mortem examination would be conducted, and the subsequent report might shed more light on the nature of her illness.
It’s reminiscent of a similar incident in 2011 when a 27-year-old lioness faced a similar fate in the same zoo.
