In response to the evolving security landscape, the federal government has appointed a new national security advisor. Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik of the Pakistan Army has been given the additional charge of this crucial role.
An official notification confirming his appointment as national security advisor was issued on Wednesday, according to reliable sources. Soon after the notification was released, Lt Gen Malik assumed his new responsibilities without delay.
The decision to name a new national security advisor comes amid rising regional tensions and security concerns. His appointment is seen as a key move to strengthen national coordination on defense and security matters.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held an urgent press conference the same day. He firmly rejected any link between Pakistan and the recent violent incident.
“Pakistan condemns terrorism in every form and expression,” said Dar. “No political or ideological goal can justify the killing of innocent civilians. This stance is not only our national security policy but also our religious belief.”
He quoted the Quran to stress the value of human life. “Taking one life is like killing all of humanity. And saving one life is like saving all of humanity,” he stated.
Dar emphasized that targeting unarmed civilians was both reprehensible and unacceptable. “It’s happening across the globe, and we make our position clear whenever and wherever such acts occur,” he added.
With Lieutenant General Asim Malik now serving as the national security advisor, Islamabad aims to ensure a stronger and more unified approach to its internal and external security policies. The appointment reflects the government’s commitment to stability and strategic foresight in times of uncertainty.
