Mahmood Khan Achakzai has been formally appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
According to details, the opposition alliance Tehreek Tahafuz Pakistan nominated Mahmood Khan Achakzai for the position. The Speaker of the National Assembly has issued an official notification confirming his appointment.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah stated that the notification for Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s appointment as opposition leader would be issued today.
Rana Sanaullah said that PTI’s political activities revolve entirely around its founding chairman. He added that when PTI was in power, it was unwilling to sit with the opposition, and even now, while in opposition, the party is not ready to engage with the government.
It is noteworthy that no other candidate submitted nomination papers for the position of opposition leader. The nomination papers of Mahmood Khan Achakzai were submitted by PTI-backed independent members of the National Assembly.
