Maj Moiz Embraces Martyrdom in South Waziristan Operation; 11 Militants Killed

Two soldiers of the Pakistan Army, including a Major, were martyred in a fierce South Waziristan operation. The military’s media wing, ISPR, confirmed that 11 terrorists were eliminated during this intelligence-based mission.

The military raid took place in the Sararogha area of South Waziristan. The action was based on intelligence reports regarding terrorists linked to the Indian-backed group “Fitna al Khwarij.” Pakistani troops swiftly responded and launched a precise counter-terror action.

According to ISPR, the terrorists’ hideout was effectively targeted. The result: 11 Indian-sponsored extremists were killed. Seven others sustained serious injuries during the intense battle.

Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah led the operation. He was a fearless officer, aged 37, known for his brave leadership in past missions. He embraced martyrdom while fighting at the frontline. Alongside him, Lance Naik Jibran Ullah also gave his life for the nation.

The military conducted a follow-up sanitization operation to clear the area of any remaining Indian-backed terrorists. The ISPR stated that Pakistan’s security forces remain firm in their resolve to wipe out foreign-sponsored militancy.

This latest South Waziristan operation highlights the continued threat faced by Pakistan. Despite no major rise in cross-border hostilities, militant attacks showed a slight increase in May 2025.

According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), militant attacks rose by 5% compared to April. In May, 85 attacks were recorded. April had 81 incidents.

These attacks claimed 113 lives. Among the dead were 52 members of the security forces, 46 civilians, 11 militants, and four peace committee members. Another 182 people were injured — including 130 civilians, 47 security personnel, four militants, and one peace committee volunteer.

The figures show troubling developments. Deaths among army and law enforcement surged by 73%. Civilian injuries skyrocketed by 145%, up from 53 in April to 130 in May. However, injuries among security personnel dropped from 59 to 47 — a 20% decrease.

Throughout May, security forces conducted several operations. These actions resulted in the deaths of 59 militants. Unfortunately, five soldiers also lost their lives in these efforts.

Combining attacks and security raids, May saw 172 casualties: 57 security officials, 65 militants, 46 civilians, and four peace committee members. The situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains the most volatile.

Of the 85 attacks, 82 occurred in these two provinces. Balochistan witnessed 35 assaults. These attacks killed 51 individuals — 30 civilians, 18 soldiers, and three militants. Injuries in Balochistan totaled 100, including 94 civilians.

The South Waziristan operation reflects Pakistan’s ongoing war against terrorism. It also underscores the dangers posed by foreign-sponsored militant groups. Despite the losses, Pakistan’s forces remain determined to defend the homeland and defeat terrorism at all costs.
