Man Arrested in Pattoki for Playing Noor Jahan’s Song on Loudspeaker, as Punjab Police enforce the province’s Loudspeaker Act more strictly. The arrest took place in the Habibabad area of Kasur’s tehsil Pattoki, where the man was found playing the melody queen Noor Jahan’s famous song at high volume on a speaker.
According to police, the individual was taken into custody after complaints from residents about the disturbance. His amplifier and speaker system were also confiscated. An FIR has been registered against him under the Loudspeaker Act, which prohibits excessive or disruptive use of sound systems in public areas.
A video showing the man enjoying the song has gone viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from the public—some calling it an overreaction, while others praised the police for upholding the law.
Earlier, the Punjab government had directed authorities to ensure strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act and established whistleblower cells across districts to report misuse of sound systems or suspicious public gatherings.
The Punjab Loudspeaker Act, 2015, aims to prevent noise pollution and control the public use of loudspeakers. It specifically bans “any loud, unnecessary or unusual noise” that disturbs public peace or comfort. The law also prohibits using sound systems near educational institutions, courts, hospitals, or public offices during working hours if such use causes disturbance.
Under this act, individuals found violating the law can face legal action, fines, or imprisonment depending on the nature of the offense.
Man Arrested in Pattoki for Playing Noor Jahan’s Song on Loudspeaker serves as a reminder of Punjab’s growing efforts to regulate public order and noise pollution under existing provincial laws.
