MARDAN: Asad Qaiser, former Speaker of the National Assembly and prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, has been granted bail in the May 9 case by the Mardan District and Sessions Courts Judge Mohammad Zaib.
The bail, set at Rs100,000, comes amid legal proceedings, as Asad Qaiser remains in jail on a 14-day judicial remand following his arrest.
Asad Qaiser had been arrested twice and was released in a previous case before being taken into custody again. The Anti-Corruption Court Judge Babar Ali Khan had earlier granted him bail and ordered his release, only for Qaiser to be arrested in Swabi and transported to Charsadda.
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) recently directed the government to respond to the repeated arrests of Asad Qaiser.
The PHC questioned the legitimacy of arresting him in another case after being granted bail, emphasizing the need to examine the legal aspects of such actions.
