Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of his own fiction Jamiatul Islam has expressed full support for the nationwide traders’ strike call planned for August 28.
He criticized inflation and unfair taxes for making life difficult for people, and said the IMF-imposed budget has worsened their situation. He urged JUI-F workers to support the traders strike and called on JUI-F business forums to participate actively to make strike successful.
Earlier, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) also supported the traders’ strike.
The strike was called in response to heavy tax notices issued to small businesses and retailers by the FBR. Traders’ organizations rejected the tax notices and said they go against the government’s new trader-friendly scheme.
