Maulana Idrees Tarangzai was shot dead in a tragic attack in Charsadda on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves across the area. The well-known religious scholar was travelling through Utmanzai when armed men opened fire on his vehicle.

Witnesses said the attackers targeted the car and then fled the scene within moments. Maulana Idrees Tarangzai suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors later confirmed his death.

Two police constables, who were on duty at the time, were also caught in the firing. Both sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a medical facility, where they remain in critical condition.

Footage from the scene showed a white car badly damaged, with its rear windshield shattered and bullet marks visible across the body. The attack took place on a busy road near a school, which led to panic among residents.

Soon after the incident, a large number of people gathered at the site. Security forces arrived quickly and cordoned off the area while starting an investigation.

This is not the first such incident in Charsadda. Earlier, another religious figure was killed in a similar targeted attack, raising concerns about the security situation in the region.

Police have launched a search operation to trace the attackers, but no arrests have been made so far.
