MDCAT 2026 New Date Announced: Now September 20

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has announced the MDCAT 2026 new date, pushing the test back from its original schedule to give candidates and institutions more clarity. The Medical and Dental College Admission Test, initially set for August 16, 2026, will now take place on September 20, 2026.

Why the Exam Was Postponed

According to PM&DC, the decision to shift the MDCAT 2026 new date came on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at ensuring the test is conducted smoothly, securely, and transparently while accommodating all candidates across the country.

The council clarified that apart from the date change, every other aspect of the examination, including its terms, conditions, and overall arrangements, will stay the same unless a further notification is issued. Candidates, parents, and educational institutions have been informed of the update through PM&DC’s official channels.

What Candidates Should Do Next

PM&DC has urged all aspiring medical and dental students to stay alert for further guidance by regularly checking the council’s official website and its verified communication platforms. Any additional changes or instructions related to the exam will be shared through these same channels.

With the MDCAT 2026 new date now set for September 20, candidates have extra time to prepare, though they are advised not to treat this as an opportunity to relax their study schedules given the high competition for medical and dental college seats each year.
