KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rainfall in Sindh’s districts of Mithi, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur, and Larkana from July 4th to 7th.
Meanwhile, most districts of Sindh can expect mainly hot and very humid weather conditions.
Starting from today, strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are expected to penetrate the upper parts of the country, according to the PMD.
Rain with wind and thundershowers is predicted in Kashmir up to July 7th, with occasional gaps due to this weather system.
Islamabad and most districts of Punjab, including Lahore, are likely to receive rainfall from July 2nd to 7th.
In southern Punjab, districts such as Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan, and Layyah can expect rain and thundershowers from July 4th to 7th.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar and other districts will experience rainfall, with some areas receiving heavy to very heavy falls, from July 3rd to 7th, with occasional gaps.
Most districts of Balochistan will have mainly hot and humid weather, but eastern parts, including Khuzdar, Kalat, Zhob, Barkhan, Jaffarabad, and Naseerabad, are expected to receive rainfall from July 3rd to 7th.
Rainfall is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan during the week.
The Met Office has warned that torrential rains may cause flash floods in local nullahs and streams in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Narowal, Murree, Galliyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Dir, Swat, Kashmir, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan from July 4th to 7th.
Water flows in eastern rivers are likely to increase during this vigorous monsoon activity.
Urban flooding is likely in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Peshawar.
Landslides may disrupt roads at vulnerable points in the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
