Meta, the company overseeing Instagram and Facebook, is broadening the reach of its “broadcast channels” feature. Initially launched on Instagram in February, this functionality allows administrators to send one-way messages to their followers.
Now, this capability is extending to Facebook and Messenger. Creators and public figures managing Facebook pages can utilize broadcast channels to share messages, encompassing photos, videos, and voice notes, with their community.
It’s crucial to highlight that only administrators have the ability to dispatch messages through these channels, whereas participants can respond to messages and participate in polls. Administrators can initiate a channel directly from their page, prompting followers to join through a one-time notification after the initial message is sent.
These broadcast channels will be accessible within Messenger chats under the designated “Channels” tab. Participants will be notified when the page owner shares updates, with the option to mute the channel at their discretion.
This expansion enhances communication flexibility for content creators and public figures using Facebook’s platforms. Although the feature may not be universally available yet, page administrators with access can begin employing broadcast channels, while those without access can enlist in a waitlist for future availability.
