A group of unidentified armed attackers launched a violent assault on the Karachi-Gwadar Coastal Highway near Makola. The assailants set four vehicles, including a police van, on fire. The attack took place in an area located between Pasni and Ormara.
According to administrative sources, the attackers also targeted a Coastal Highway Police checkpoint in Makola. They damaged infrastructure and looted weapons from the police personnel stationed there.
As per a TV channel report, the unidentified militants also torched three LPG tankers traveling from Karachi to Iran. In addition, they punctured the tires of three other tankers before fleeing the scene.
After executing the attack, the armed group escaped, leaving behind a scene of destruction. Security forces quickly arrived at the site. They sealed off the area and launched a search operation to track down the attackers.
This is not the first act of violence in the region. On November 14 last year, terrorists attacked a security checkpost in Pasni. The sudden assault left two security personnel injured. The injured officials were given immediate medical care.
The Coastal Highway, officially known as National Highway 10 (N-10) or Makran Coastal Highway, stretches 653 kilometers from Karachi to Gwadar. It runs along the Arabian Sea, passing through Ormara and Pasni. The highway is a key route in Balochistan, reducing travel time between Karachi and Gwadar from two days to just six to seven hours.
The highway also passes near Hingol National Park and the Munda Volcano, a religious site for Hindus. Some sections of the route resemble the Grand Canyon due to natural rock formations shaped by wind and weather.
Security remains a major concern on the Coastal Highway. Law enforcement agencies continue efforts to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of travelers.
