‘Missile Power, Not Talks, Forced US to Negotiate’: Iranian Speaker

'Missile Power, Not Talks, Forced US to Negotiate': Iranian Speaker

TEHRAN / ISLAMABAD: The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has stated that any potential agreement or breakthrough in ongoing negotiations with the United States was only achieved due to Iran’s formidable missile capabilities.

According to reports broadcast by Arab media, the top Iranian legislator emphasized that Tehran did not secure concessions through diplomatic dialogue alone. Instead, he maintained that Iran leveraged its robust military deterrence, particularly its advanced missile power, to compel the opposite side into discussions.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Speaker Qalibaf explicitly clarified Tehran’s stance on international diplomacy. He noted that Iran places no trust in the verbal assurances or written guarantees of its adversaries. Consequently, the Islamic Republic relies solely on practical, verifiable actions on the ground.

Addressing the current security dynamic, Qalibaf reassured that Tehran will not initiate any military conflict. “Unless the other party [the US] takes action against us, there will be no action from our side,” the Iranian Speaker clarified.

However, he delivered a stark warning regarding the fragile nature of international agreements with Washington. He stated that the ultimate victor in any dynamic deal will be the nation that remains fully prepared to go to war the very next day.
