Mohmand Agency mosque suicide blast death toll reaches 30


GHALANAI: Death toll from Mohmand Agency mosque suicide blast has reached to 31 as more victims succumbed to their injuries at hospital on Saturday.
At least 25 people had lost their lives in a suicide attack at a mosque during Friday pray in Khan Kalay area of Ambar tehsil of Mohmand Agency. Over 30 had sustained injured in the explosion. Three tribesmen had succumbed to their injuries in hospital on Friday, while two more died of their wounds on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, the security forces have also imposed curfew in Ambar and Pandiali area of the agency and started search operation. The security forces also arrested many suspects during the search operations in the area.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers of all 30 martyrs have been offered in Khan Kalay area of the agency. They were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyards.
According to APA Mohmand Naveed Akbar, a suicide bomber entered into the masjid during Juma congregation and blew himself up by killing 25 innocent worshipers with leaving 31 other injured.
Most of the injured were shifted to Agency Headquarter Ghalanai, Bajaur Agency, APA Naveed Akbar added. Naveed Akbar said that eyewitnesses also confirmed that it was a suicide bomber who quickly entered into the crowded masjid and blew himself up with a big bang.
The verandah of the masjid also caved in as result of the blast, he confirmed. He said soon after the blast, the locals and personnel of the security forces rushed to site and started relief operation by shifting the injured to the nearby hospital.
He confirmed that as many as 30 injured were shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Khar while only one teenager has admitted in Agency Headquarter Hospital, Ghalanai, Mohmand Agency.
