The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Monday that humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are expected to move into the upper regions of Pakistan, leading to heavy monsoon rains starting today. This new rain system is anticipated to continue affecting different parts of the country until September 5. The arrival of these winds is likely to bring significant rainfall, marking an active phase of the monsoon season, which could impact daily life and activities across the nation.
In response to the forecast, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued warnings about the possibility of heavy rains, especially today and tomorrow (Tuesday). The PDMA has expressed concerns that the intense rainfall could lead to floods and landslides in various parts of the province. Residents and local authorities have been advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of expected severe weather.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has predicted moderate rain in northeastern Punjab and light rain in cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad today. In Karachi, the temperature is expected to range between 31°C to 33°C, with light rain or drizzle possible at night.
The weather forecast for Karachi shows cloudy skies, light winds, and high humidity. Rain is also expected in parts of Sindh, such as Hyderabad, Thatta, Tharparkar Mithi, and Badin, by tomorrow. Karachi may experience light to heavy rain on September 4. The new weather system might also bring heavy rains to northeastern Balochistan, which has already been hit hard by earlier rains. After September 7, the heat is expected to rise. This forecast comes after heavy rains and strong winds influenced by Cyclone Asna, which eventually weakened without hitting any coast.
