As Punjab, including its capital Lahore, experienced a range of weather phenomena from light rain to heavy thunderstorms early Saturday morning, the Meteorological Department predicts further rain and strong winds in the province today.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued directives to local administrations to maintain vigilance and proactivity in managing the adverse weather.
Throughout the night, intermittent thundershowers persisted in various parts of Lahore, with temperatures expected to hover around 26 degrees Celsius due to ongoing cold winds.
Reports indicate scattered light rain in several Lahore areas including Shahdara Town, Ravi Road, and Karim Park. Additionally, neighborhoods like Gulberg, Model Town, Garden Town, and Kalma Chowk experienced thundershowers, enhancing the city’s pleasant weather. The rain also affected major roads like The Mall Road, Canal Road, Johar Town, and Township.
In Hafizabad, rainfall and winds brought about a pleasant climate, though concerns arise for potential damage to wheat crops due to heavy rain. Electricity disruptions during Sehr added to residents’ challenges.
Similar weather patterns were observed across Punjab; in Gujrat, power outages occurred due to a thunderstorm, while Lalamusa, Kharian, and nearby areas experienced rainfall. In Kasur, heavy rain accompanied by thunder led to electricity cuts despite the pleasant weather it brought.
In Shorkot, heavy rain and hail raised concerns for potential crop damage, while similar conditions were reported in Shakargarh, Kartarpur, Noorkot, Dipalpur, Wazirabad, and Daska.
With unpredictable weather prevailing, both authorities and citizens are on high alert, taking necessary precautions to mitigate potential damage or disruptions caused by ongoing rain and thunderstorms.
