10 Tourists Killed in Murree Accident After Van Crashes and Catches Fire on Expressway

A Murree accident in which 10 tourists were killed took place on the Murree Expressway near Khajot when a passenger van crashed and caught fire, officials said on Wednesday.

According to Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the van was carrying 23 passengers from Multan who had left for Murree around 2 am. The vehicle reportedly hit a roadside barrier due to overspeeding, after which a fire broke out in the engine and the sliding door jammed.

The incident occurred on the Murree Expressway at Khajot, where emergency teams rushed to the scene soon after the crash.

Motorway Police officials confirmed that 13 injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Rescue teams also confirmed that multiple tourists died on the spot due to the intensity of the fire and impact.

Officials said initial reports suggest that speeding may have caused the crash, but a full investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

The Murree accident in which 10 tourists were killed has raised concerns over road safety on the busy hill route, especially during tourist season.
