ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq issued production orders for ten arrested members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The orders mandate the attendance of these PTI members in the upcoming proceedings of the House. The members named in the production orders are Sher Afzal Marwat, Amir Dogar, Zain Qureshi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Muhammad Ahmad Chattha, Zubair Khan, Owais Haider Jhakkar, Syed Shah Ahad Shah, Naseem Ali Shah, and Yousuf Khan.
The issuance of these orders ensures that the arrested PTI members will participate in the next assembly session. The orders were issued under the authority granted by Rule 108.
PTI MNAs, including party chairman Barrister Gohar, were arrested by Islamabad police with prior approval from NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. The arrests took place after the police presented an FIR against the PTI lawmakers for breaching standard operating procedures (SOPs) during a public rally held on September 8.
On Monday, the police arrested PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen, while Zain Qureshi and Sheikh Waqas Akram were detained within the Parliament House. Additionally, Owais Ahmed Chatha, Syed Shah Ahmed, Sunni Ittehad Council’s Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Yousaf Khan, Maulana Naseem Shah, and Ahmed Shah Khattak were also taken into custody.
Three cases have been filed under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill in Islamabad, citing violations related to the event’s No Objection Certificate (NOC). The FIR includes 28 individuals, among them PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Ali, Sher Afzal Marwat, Shoaib Shaheen, Omar Gul, Zartaj Gul, Aamir Mughal, Seemabia Tahir, and Raja Basharat.
In a related development, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has safely returned to the KP CM House after a seven-hour absence, following a crackdown on PTI leaders.
