NAB-KP arrests appraiser customs dry port in mega corruption case

Government finalizes draft of new NAB amendment ordinance

PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NAB–KP) Thursday arrested Hidayat Ullah, appraiser, Customs Dry Port, Peshawar over his alleged involved in corruption and corrupt practices and misuse of authority and causing huge loss of approximately Rs 4000 million to national exchequer.
During the course of investigation, it revealed that the accused Hidayat Ullah, being appraiser, Custom Dry Port, Peshawar in connivance with other accused persons planned to cleared 1450 x construction machinery illegally and in violation of applicable rules, said NAB–KP spokesperson.
However, their nefarious designs were obstructed by NAB–KP Investigation Team. The accused persons, while in connivance with each other, illegally cleared approximately 500 machinery worth over Rs 600 million as assessed by the department, whereas market value of the same was more than Rs 2800 million. In this way, so far colossal loss of more than Rs 4,000 million has been caused to government exchequer.
It merits to mention here that two accused persons namely Shahid Akbar, Principal Appraiser and Abdul Hadi, Appraiser, Customs Dry Port Peshawar have already been arrested in the instant case.
NAB KP is vigorously pursuing the case; more facts are expected to surface. The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical custody. …APP
