ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Saturday moved the Supreme Court for stopping the Islamabad High Court (IHC) from giving verdict on Sharifs’ petitions for suspension of the sentences in Avenfield case.
Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired Captain Mohammad Safdar had moved the IHC to suspend the verdict in the Avenfields properties reference after they were convicted by Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Bashir on July 6, 2018. A two-member bench of the Islamabad high court has directed the NAB prosecutor to complete his arguments by Monday, while the defence counsels have already completed their arguments. The high court has already rejected the NAB’s request for hearing of appeals of the Sharifs before petitions for suspension of sentences.
