National Savings Rates Raised: New Profit Rates Announced

The federal government has raised the rates of return on a number of national savings schemes, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance. The revised national savings rates cover multiple savings and investment certificates, with increases ranging from 12 to 74 basis points.

Defence Savings Certificate Rate Goes Up

The return on the Defence Savings Certificate has been raised by 19 basis points, bringing it to 11.80%.

Behbood and Pensioners Benefit Returns

According to the notification, the rate of return on the Behbood Savings Certificate and the Pensioners Benefit Account has risen by 12 basis points to 12.72%.

Regular Income Certificate

The Regular Income Certificate now offers a return of 11.76% after an increase of 60 basis points.

Special Savings Certificate

The Special Savings Certificate saw the largest increase among the revised schemes, with its rate going up by 74 basis points. Investors in the scheme will now receive 11.82%.

Sarwa Islamic Term Account Profit Rates

The government has also revised the profit rates on the Sarwa Islamic Term Account. For the three-year account, the rate has increased by 41 basis points to 11.57%.

The profit rate on the five-year account has gone up by 54 basis points to 11.70%.

The revised national savings rates will apply in line with the terms and conditions set out in the Ministry of Finance notification.
