The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has imposed fixed electricity charges on domestic consumers using up to 300 units per month, expanding the fee structure to lower consumption slabs.
According to the regulator’s decision, protected consumers using up to 100 units per month will pay a fixed charge of Rs200. Protected consumers using up to 200 units will pay Rs300 in monthly fixed charges.
For non-protected consumers, Nepra has set a fixed fee of Rs275 for usage up to 100 units, while those consuming up to 200 units will pay Rs300. Non-protected consumers using up to 300 units will be charged Rs350 per month.
The regulator also revised fixed charges for higher slabs. Consumers using up to 400 units will pay Rs400 after an increase of Rs200.
For non-protected users consuming 500 units per month, fixed charges have been raised by Rs100 to Rs500. Those using up to 600 units will pay Rs675 after an increase of Rs75.
However, Nepra reduced charges for higher consumption categories. Fixed charges for consumers using up to 700 units have been cut by Rs125 to Rs675. For consumers exceeding 700 units, charges have been reduced by Rs325 to Rs675.
The revised fixed fee structure is part of Nepra’s updated tariff framework for domestic electricity users.
