NEPRA Jacks Up Power Tariff by Rs3.33 Per Unit

NEPRA Seeks Electricity Price Hike by Rs3.53 Per Unit

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs3.3 per unit in the power tariff for consumers of power distribution companies (DISCOs), excluding K-electric.

According to NEPRA, this tariff hike, attributed to the fuel charges adjustment (FCA), will apply to all consumer categories except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers. Consequently, consumers will face higher electricity bills in June.

Additionally, on Tuesday, NEPRA announced an increase of Rs3.76 per unit in the electricity price due to quarterly fuel adjustment. According to the power regulator’s notification, this increase will be effective for three months—June, July, and August. The adjusted rates will result in an additional charge of Rs1.90 per unit in June, and Rs0.93 per unit in both July and August.

This latest tariff hike will impose an extra burden of Rs46.61 billion on electricity consumers and will also affect K-electric consumers.
