A fresh cold wave is expected to affect several parts of the country, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting rain and snowfall in different regions over the next 24 hours.
According to the PMD, Islamabad may receive rain at a few locations, while most districts of Balochistan are likely to remain extremely cold.
In Punjab, the weather is expected to stay cold and dry in most areas. However, rain is likely in Narowal, Sialkot and Jhelum. The PMD also predicts rain with snowfall in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, rain and snowfall are expected at a few locations in Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Dir and Swat. Similar conditions may also occur in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Meanwhile, most districts of Sindh are expected to remain cold and dry.
Lahore smog worsens again
On the other hand, air pollution in Lahore has once again turned alarming. Lahore has climbed to 7th place among the world’s most polluted cities, with the city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 184.
Data showed the highest AQI was recorded in DHA Phase 8 (423), followed by Wahdat Road (348) and Thokar Niaz Baig (324).
The Met Office said Lahore’s weather remains cool, with the minimum temperature recorded at 8°C, while the maximum temperature may reach 21°C. Winds are currently blowing at 3 km/h.
