KARACHI: The Sindh assembly is set to administer the oath to newly appointed members today (Saturday) at 11 am.
Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI) have announced plans to protest outside the Sindh assembly during the oath-taking ceremony.
The Sindh interior ministry has imposed section-144 in Karachi’s red zone for one month. The caretaker interior minister of Sindh has declared processions and strikes as prohibited under section-144.
Any violation of the law will be dealt with firmly, according to the interior minister, who has deployed police forces in the red zone to ensure compliance.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto has confirmed Murad Ali Shah as the chief minister of Sindh, with Syed Awais Shah slated to become the Speaker.
