No Agreement Between Iran and US on Opening Strait of Hormuz, Says Ali Bagheri

Iran US Strait of Hormuz agreement

Tehran: Iran’s senior official Ali Bagheri Kani has said that no agreement has been reached between Iran and the United States regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

He said Iran and Oman are holding talks on a new mechanism for the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran and Oman Discuss Maritime Movement

According to Ali Bagheri, Iran and Oman are discussing ways to make maritime movement in the region safer and more effective.

He said the talks are focused on improving shipping procedures and ensuring security in one of the world’s most important sea routes.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key passage for international oil and trade shipments.

Indirect Contacts With US Continue

Ali Bagheri Kani said indirect contacts between Iran and the United States are still continuing.

However, he made it clear that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile is not part of the negotiation agenda.

He said Iran will continue its diplomatic process in line with its national interests and security policy.

Iran Rejects Reports of Hormuz Agreement

The Iranian official rejected reports suggesting that Tehran and Washington had reached an understanding on the Strait of Hormuz.

He said Iran is handling the matter through regional diplomatic channels, including discussions with Oman.

Diplomacy to Continue Under Iran’s Security Policy

Ali Bagheri said Iran remains committed to diplomacy, but its national interests and security concerns will guide the process.

He added that Iran will not allow sensitive national security matters to be included in talks without its consent.

The statement comes as regional tensions continue to shape diplomatic activity between Iran, the United States, and Gulf countries.
