ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday dismissed the petition filed by former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, which sought to prevent the government from conducting a military trial related to the events of May 9.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the order after being informed that the government had yet to make any decision regarding Imran Khan’s military trial.
During the hearing, Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Duggal stated that if such a decision were made, the legal process would be followed. He clarified that any trial would begin with the government filing an application in the court of a civil magistrate.

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif indicated that a military trial for the PTI founder was likely. In an interview with a private television channel, he mentioned that evidence against Khan was pointing toward a military trial and asserted, “It is clear that the party’s founder will face military trial.” Asif also suggested that Faiz Hameed would be instrumental in pursuing the case against Khan.
