North Waziristan Operation: Security Forces Kill Four Terrorists Including Key Commander in Spinwam Raid

Security forces carried out a successful intelligence-based operation in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, killing four terrorists, including a key militant commander. The action was part of an ongoing counterterrorism drive in the region.

In this North Waziristan operation, the slain commander was identified as Umar, also known as Jan Mir and Tor Saqib. He carried a bounty of Rs3 million and was considered a major planner behind attacks on both security forces and civilians. Officials said he played a central role in spreading violence in the area.

Reports further revealed that the militant had built underground bunkers, tunnels, and explosive traps around the Bobali Mosque area in Spinwam. These hideouts were being used to target security personnel and intimidate local residents. During the operation, all four terrorists were neutralized on the spot.

This North Waziristan operation came just days after another major clearance action in the region, where security forces eliminated 22 militants during a separate intelligence-based mission in Shewa. That earlier operation was launched on credible intelligence inputs regarding the presence of foreign-backed militants.

Authorities also recovered weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorists. Evidence collected from the site indicated that militants were using civilians as human shields and pressuring local communities through fear and intimidation.

Officials reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue across the country without pause to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace. The security situation in North Waziristan remains a key focus under this national strategy.

Pakistan has recently seen an increase in cross-border militant incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following regional developments after 2021. Security forces continue to conduct targeted operations to dismantle militant networks and prevent further attacks.

Islamabad has repeatedly urged regional authorities to stop their soil from being used for cross-border terrorism. Despite diplomatic efforts and talks, progress on counterterrorism cooperation remains limited.
