LAHORE: Objections have been raised against the nomination papers of key political figures, continuing the scrutiny process for the third day. Initially, objections were lodged against the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, both prominent leaders in their respective parties. Following suit, objections have now been filed against the former Prime Minister, Imran Khan.
Mian Naseer, a candidate from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), submitted an objection to Imran Khan’s nomination papers in the NA-122 constituency of Lahore. The objection contends that Imran Khan, as the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is a convicted individual and, therefore, ineligible to participate in the elections.
It’s noteworthy that a citizen from Sargodha had previously petitioned the Returning Officer against Maryam Nawaz, alleging forged signatures on her PP-80 candidate papers and emphasizing her convictions in various cases.
Similarly, a citizen from Lahore’s Constituency NA-127 raised objections against Bilawal Bhutto’s nomination papers. The petition argued that Bilawal Bhutto indicated affiliation with PPP Parliamentarians in his nomination papers, whereas PPP and PPP Parliamentarians are distinct political entities. The petitioner further highlighted the separation of roles, with Bilawal as the Chairman of PPP and Asif Ali Zardari serving as the President of People’s Party Parliamentarians.
