Karak district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the center of a major oil and gas discovery in Karak. This new energy breakthrough was confirmed by Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), the company in charge of the exploration project.
In an official notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, POL revealed the discovery was made in the Tal Block. This new well is expected to deliver about 22 million standard cubic feet of gas each day. Along with that, the site will yield 2,112 barrels of crude oil daily.
The company shared that drilling began in December 2024. The reserves were found at a depth of 3,887 meters beneath the surface. POL described the find as significant for Pakistan’s growing energy needs.
According to POL, the new well from the oil and gas discovery in Karak will be connected to the national production line within two months. This connection will enable quick utilization of the newly found reserves.
This oil and gas discovery in Karak is considered a strategic gain for the region. It promises not only to boost energy production but also to support local economic development.
Energy analysts believe this oil and gas discovery in Karak will improve Pakistan’s self-reliance in the energy sector. The combination of natural gas and oil from this site is expected to help reduce dependency on imports.
The Tal Block continues to show strong potential for future oil and gas discoveries in Karak. Pakistan Oilfields Limited is confident that further drilling in this region will bring more good news in the near future.
This fresh discovery underlines Pakistan’s capacity to harness its underground resources. It reflects positively on POL’s efforts to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure through consistent exploration and investment.
