Security forces have killed five more terrorists as part of the ongoing joint counterterrorism campaign, Operation Shaaban, in Balochistan, according to sources cited by Khyber News in Quetta.
The latest casualties bring the total number of militants eliminated under Operation Shaaban to 76, as security forces sustain pressure on militant networks operating across the province.
Death Toll Rises Since Early July
Officials said the five terrorists were killed in a mix of aerial and ground operations. Since July 5, a combined 114 militants have been killed through Operation Shaaban and other intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in the region.
The Balochistan counterterrorism operation involves close coordination between the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and other law enforcement agencies. Forces are relying on both ground troops and air support to track and target militant hideouts and movement across the province.
Weapons and Equipment Recovered
Security officials said troops recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition from militants killed in recent days. The seized items reportedly included:
- M4 rifles
- Submachine guns (SMGs)
- Rocket launchers
- Mobile phones and other equipment
Officials said the recovered material is believed to have been used by the militant network and will now be examined as part of a broader investigation into militant activity in Balochistan.
Operation Shaaban to Continue Until Threats Are Eliminated
Officials reiterated that Operation Shaaban Balochistan will proceed without pause until all militant threats in the province are eliminated. Security forces said they intend to maintain pressure through sustained intelligence-based and coordinated operations across the region.
The continuation of Operation Shaaban underscores the state’s ongoing commitment to rooting out militancy in Balochistan, with officials signaling that further operations are likely as the campaign progresses.
